What is a Physician Assistant:

A Physician Assistant practices the science of medicine under the direction and supervision of a physician.  The Physician Assistant Education curriculum consists of a minimum of 60 semester hours of academic courses at an accredited college or university.  Two and one-half full calendar years are then completed at an accredited College of Medicine, which includes 15 month of physician supervised clinical experience, specializing in Family Practice, OB-GYN, Pediatrics, ENT, Orthopedics, and Surgery.  The Physician Assistant must take a national certifying exam before practicing.
